Preprinted Carton Problems and Improved Case Studies

Here, I hope to provide a non-linear thinking mode for friends who are interested in developing carton preprinting as a non-traditional professional papermaker. Carton preprinting is the ultimate printing method for carton manufacturers, because the preprinting of cartons under the coordination of order quantity and production technology can produce the greatest economic benefits.

However, it is well known that the pre-printing of cartons, whether funds, technology, or even management thresholds, is relatively high compared to normal post-printing. It is not possible for any manufacturer to dedicate any investment, and in terms of current market trends, it is based on a small amount of diversity. . If you want to venture into preprinting, the risks are conceivable. If there is no innovative production technology, no breakthrough in the status quo can be achieved.

The traditional post-printing technology is not a failure to produce good products, but only to produce high-quality printed cartons. The cost of equipment, material costs, and non-performing rates may also be higher than pre-printing. For example, the MasterfleX printing machine produced by Bobst Company has expensive equipment, and the MasterfleX printing machine has relatively high requirements for the quality of the cardboard. Therefore, whether the product cost and profit can be matched is worth considering.

A common traditional carton printing problems

In the traditional post-printing technology of the carton, there seem to be some unsolvable printing problems, such as:

(1) Arrangement of ribs: It is almost impossible to avoid full-color full-color printing especially in large areas.

Reason: The flatness of the board. Poor pressure and strength, printing pressure is too large

(2) The printing effect of half-tone & solid print is not ideal and often cannot be taken into consideration.

the reason:

â–  The paperboard is poor in flatness, and the printing pressure is too large and uneven.

â–  Platemaking issues. The depth of the outlet is too shallow.

â–  Same-color printing in the field and dot prints may not necessarily share the same number of lines (aniloxroller) at the same time.

(For example, when printing on rough surfaced kraft paper, when the same color version is interlaced with dots, the dot separation is 80 LPI. It is recommended that the anilox be at least 400 LPI, and the anilox in the field should be 250 LPI. The following is appropriate, and it is divided into two color bases for printing. Achieve the best results.)

(3) Ink transfer effect is not good, resulting in water lines or overprinting difficulties, even if the anilox roller is dirty, fine lines appear on the spot printing roller to see the anilox roller itself lines!

the reason:

â–  Anilox Roller itself has been worn out due to poor cleanliness (most common in the printing plant) Anilx has been worn out, resulting in inefficient and accurate transfer of ink

â–  The ink itself does not control the viscosity and pH value, plus there is no drying equipment on the general printing press, and it cannot dry effectively! Moreover, the quality of the ink is generally low because of cost factors!

(4) Overprinting is not accurate

â–  The sticker is not precise enough

â–  Problems with the printing machine itself

â–  The problem of warp in the cardboard itself,

â–  uneven printing pressure caused by the cardboard transmission error.

The above-mentioned four common problems of traditional paperboard printing will also occur on satellite type flexo presses so that the occurrence can be easily dealt with. Of course, experience is also an important factor.

After printing, you can print very good prints, but you have to be careful about the details. When you can control all of them, you may not be able to meet the customer's requirements on the overall cost!
