What brand of boss, Fang Tai, Siemens range hood is good

When it's time to replace your range hood, you're often overwhelmed by a flood of advertisements. After listening to the sales representative’s explanation, you become even more confused—each brand uses different jargon, and their so-called standards are all over the place! So, how can consumers make an informed choice?

Boss Electric claims that you should focus on large air volume. They boast about their patented "Double-Strength Core" technology, which delivers up to 17 cubic meters per minute in China.

Fang Tai, on the other hand, argues that Boss is just bragging. They emphasize their "Smooth Suction Duct" design, which they say ensures efficient suction.

Meanwhile, brands from Germany and Italy claim that none of the domestic options are truly effective. They promote their "New Sky Arc" model, which features a near-perfect design.

Siemens insists that their products are made in Germany, and as soon as you hear "Made in Germany," you know it's top-tier.

Other manufacturers also have their own unique selling points. But with so many conflicting claims, it's hard to tell what’s real.

So, what makes a good range hood? Is it suitable for our Chinese kitchens? Two days ago, I came across an evaluation report from a professional home appliance website. It tested the airflow and noise levels of several major brands. The results revealed some interesting insights—let’s take a closer look together!

1. Pay Attention to Noise Levels

The noise levels ranged from 65.2 dB to 66.9 dB. It seems that the difference between leading domestic brands is very small—just 1.7 dB. If someone told me that, I’d think they were joking. How can you even tell the difference? It’s like using your ears as a decibel meter!

Ideally, a range hood should operate at the same level as a regular fan (around 45–50 dB). That would be a huge breakthrough. I hope all companies will work on this and make cooking feel more comfortable, like having a breeze while you cook.

2. Check the Airflow Volume

Since noise levels are similar among most brands, let's focus on airflow. I saw Siemens promoting their V5 model, claiming high performance. But when we measured it, the airflow was only 14.68 m³/min. Made in Germany? High-tech? It all sounds like marketing fluff.

Chinese consumers aren’t easily fooled. We understand our needs best.

At this point, Boss finally speaks up. As an industry leader, they highlight their "Double-Core" technology. They said 17 m³/min was conservative, but the actual measurement showed 17.15 m³/min. According to TV ads, they can even suck up a pot! Then Shuaikang enters the scene, claiming to be the quietest, but their airflow is still low. It's not even close to a fan.

3. Merchants Won't Tell You the Real "Efficiency"

The evaluation is done, but my analysis isn’t. I want to share the truth: the most important factor in choosing a range hood is its "efficiency"—the ratio of airflow to noise. You can’t afford high noise without getting enough airflow. This is something most companies won’t tell you.

Some brands may have low noise, but their airflow is poor, resulting in low efficiency. Others might have high airflow, but the noise is too loud. What’s the point then?

Without professional tools, I used Excel to do a simple analysis. Let’s take a look at the data. Using Excel’s chart function, it becomes clear at a glance.

Here’s the result. Using a histogram, it’s easy to see which brands perform better.

Summary: After analyzing the efficiency of each brand, Boss clearly leads the pack. Fang Tai follows closely, while Siemens and Shuaikang lag behind. Of course, this is only one aspect—consumers should also consider after-sales service and personal preferences before making a final decision.
