What brand of boss, Fang Tai, Siemens range hood is good

When it's time to replace your range hood, you're often overwhelmed by a flood of advertisements. After listening to the sales representative's explanation, you become even more confused—each brand has its own way of selling, and their claims are so different that it's hard to tell what's real anymore! So, how do consumers choose the best one?

Boss Electric claims that the key is large air volume. They have the largest patented "Double-Strength Core" technology in China, with a maximum airflow of 17 cubic meters per minute.

Fang Tai, on the other hand, says Boss is just bragging, and the real secret lies in their "Smooth Suction Duct," which provides efficient static suction.

Meanwhile, German and Italian brands argue that none of the local options are good enough. Their "New Sky Arc" design, which sits closer to the cooking surface, is nearly perfect.

Siemens insists that Chinese manufacturing isn’t up to par, emphasizing that their units are made in Germany—after all, “Made in Germany” means quality.

Other manufacturers also have their own unique selling points.

So, what makes a good range hood? Is it really suitable for the typical Chinese kitchen? Two days ago, I came across an evaluation report from a professional home appliance website. They tested the airflow and noise levels of several major range hood brands on the market. It was eye-opening to see the real performance behind the marketing hype. Let’s take a look together!

1. Pay Attention to Noise Levels

The noise levels ranged from as low as 65.2 dB to as high as 66.9 dB. It seems that the difference between most domestic range hoods is actually very small—just 1.7 dB. If someone tells you that 1.7 dB makes a big difference, they might be trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Just ask them to measure it themselves—they’ll realize it’s not that significant.

If a range hood could operate as quietly as a fan (which typically runs at 45–50 dB), that would be a historic breakthrough. I hope all companies will push the boundaries and make this a reality soon. Imagine being able to cook while feeling like you're just blowing a fan—comfortable and peaceful!

2. Check the Airflow Volume

Since noise levels are similar across the board, let's look at the airflow volume. I saw Siemens' V5 model, and although it looked impressive at first glance, it turned out to have an airflow of only 14.68 cubic meters per minute. Made in Germany? High-tech? High-quality? Maybe those are just words.

The Chinese aren't easily fooled. We know our needs better than anyone else.

At this point, Boss finally speaks up, claiming to be the industry leader. With a listed company behind it, they proudly present their "Double-Core" technology, saying 17 is just a conservative estimate. In fact, their measured airflow was 17.15, and they even claim it can suck up pots (I’ve seen it on TV!). Then Shuaikang chimes in, saying that even if their noise level is still high, they’re the quietest in the group. There was some backlash from the audience when they mentioned their 10-cubic-meter airflow.

3. Merchants Won’t Tell You the Truth About Efficiency

The evaluation is done, but my analysis isn’t. I want to share something important: the key to choosing a good range hood is its "efficiency"—the balance between airflow and noise. You can’t just go for low noise without sufficient airflow, or vice versa. This is something most merchants won’t tell you.

Some brands may have low noise but also low airflow, resulting in poor efficiency. Others may have high airflow but also high noise, which doesn’t help either. So what’s the real efficiency?

Without professional tools, I just used Excel to do some basic calculations.

Let me show you. Using Excel’s chart function, I created a histogram. It’s clear and easy to understand at a glance.

Summary: After analyzing the data, I found that Boss Electric’s range hoods are far ahead in terms of efficiency. They lead the pack, followed closely by Fang Tai. Siemens and Shuaikang come in lower. Of course, this is just one factor—consumers should also consider after-sales service when making a final decision.
