8. Precautions
(1) Photoelectric colorimeter is a precision instrument, which should be carefully used and protected from shock, moisture and corrosion.
(2) The quality of the cuvette has a great influence on the absorbance reading. Keep the cuvette clean and protect the transparency of the optical surface. Do not hold the optical surface or contact the optical surface with a rough object. The liquid should be in an appropriate amount and should not be overfilled. The liquid on the outer wall of the cuvette should be wiped dry with a lens to prevent corrosion of the instrument and affect readings. If the colorimetric liquid is strong acid and alkali, it should be colorimetric as soon as possible to prevent damage to the cuvette. (3) The colorimetric time should be shortened as much as possible to prevent fatigue of the photovoltaic system. If continuous use is required, the middle should be temporarily suspended to keep it away from light.
(2) UV-754 spectrophotometer
This is a higher spectrophotometer for measuring the absorption spectrum in the ultraviolet to infrared region (200-1000 nm). The optical part of this instrument is similar to the 721 spectrophotometer, but it uses a quartz prism as a monochromator, and has two sources of tungsten and hydrogen arc lamps. The electrical part of the 754 spectrophotometer is more complex (Figure 2-7).
