Analysis of the relationship between packaging and environmental protection

Environmental protection refers to the protection and improvement of the natural environment. The natural environment is the most basic material condition for human beings to produce and live. Therefore, any country, industrial sector or enterprise must put environmental protection in a very important position. This is a major event for the benefit of future generations.

(1) Contamination of packaging with the environment
The environmental pollution of packaging mainly comes from the following two aspects:
1 Environmental pollution in the packaging industry. The packaging industry refers to the enterprise department that produces packaging materials and packaging products. In particular, the packaging materials industry, such as papermaking, plastics, metal smelting, glass and other industries, has to discharge large amounts of waste water, waste gas, and waste slag during the production process. It contains a large amount of toxic chemicals. If it is not treated or recycled, it is Its emissions into the environment are bound to cause environmental pollution.
2 Environmental pollution caused by packaging waste. The packaging reaches the consumer along with the product. After the use of the packaging, most of the packagings fulfill their missions. If these packagings are not recycled and disposed of, they are left in the environment. These packaging materials such as plastic bags, plastic bottles, and glass Bottles, metal cans, cartons, etc. will also cause environmental pollution.

(2) Ways to reduce packaging pollution to the environment

To reduce the environmental pollution caused by packaging, corresponding measures should be taken in response to the sources of packaging pollution, and the main aspects can be started from three aspects.
1 Reduce the environmental pollution of the packaging industry. There are many companies in the packaging industry, and each company will generate more or less waste in its production. If it is not handled properly, it will cause environmental pollution. There are three ways to reduce pollution:

a. Resolutely implement the "Environmental Protection Law" and environmental standards. All enterprises should control the amount of pollutants in accordance with the relevant regulations, and the environmental protection department should review, inspect and supervise the packaging companies accordingly so that the discharge of pollutants is within the allowable range.

b. Each packaging company should analyze the pollution and the causes of the pollution according to its own production characteristics, use various means, and take effective measures to minimize the discharge of pollutants such as packaging waste and waste residue in the development of production. In the process, solve environmental problems at the same time.
c. Energetically improve environmental protection education, raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection among cadres and workers at all levels, and actively develop, introduce, and promote new processes, new technologies, and new equipment to prevent pollution.
2 Strengthen the recycling of packaging waste. After the packaging function is completed, various packaging materials, if disposed of in the environment, are bound to cause environmental pollution. These packaging wastes are in fact not waste, most of which can be recycled and used, such as packaging paper, cartons, wooden boxes, glass bottles, plastic containers, etc. Some can be packaged again, and some can be used as packaging materials. Their recycling is an effective way to reduce packaging pollution and protect the environment. In addition, it can save a lot of packaging resources and energy, reduce production costs, and achieve greater economic and social benefits.

3 Dispose of packaging waste properly. For packaging waste that cannot be recycled, it must be properly handled. If it is not properly handled, it will cause new pollution. There are two commonly used processing methods:
a. Incineration treatment. This is the most common method of handling packaging waste. It burns the packaging waste that can burn, such as plastics, waste paper, wood packaging, etc. However, it should be noted that some wastes, such as plastics, can generate harmful substances that are released into the air when they are burned, creating "secondary pollution."

b. Buried treatment. This is the most economical way to handle packaging waste. It concentrates the packaging waste and fills the ground or buries it underground. However, packaging that is contaminated with harmful chemicals should be carefully handled to prevent it from contaminating soil and groundwater sources.
