International competition venue standards
The swimming pool is 50 meters long, at least 25 meters wide and 2 meters deep. There are 8 lanes, each lane being 2.50 meters wide. The outer lanes of the first and eighth lanes are 2.50 meters away from the pool wall.
Timing device
In swimming competitions, the records of each athlete are recorded through an automatic timing system, and the ranking of athletes is determined.
The automatic timing system consists of a trigger device, a touch panel, and a timer.
In the Olympic Games and World Championships, the automatic timing system should also include a large electronic display and a video recording system.
1. The starting device includes a microphone and an electric whistle (if a starter gun is used, a transducer must be provided). The starting device is connected to the loudspeakers of the starting stations so that each player can simultaneously hear the starter's password and the starting signal.
2. The size of the touch panel should not be less than 2.4 meters wide and 0.9 meters high and the thickness 0.01 meters + 0.002 meters. Should be installed in the center of both ends of the lane in a fixed position, athletes can touch the touchpad at each turn or reach the end to record the game performance or stage performance.
3. The timer should be installed in the air-conditioned control room 3 to 5 meters away from the end of the swimming pool. The control room area should not be less than 6 meters by 3 meters. During the competition, the line of sight between the control room and the swimming pool cannot be obstructed.
4. According to the rules, the swimming competition timer should be accurate to 1/100 second. In addition to recording and processing the athlete’s performance, it is also possible to automatically record the athlete's swim in and to determine if the player has reached a foul in the relay game.
5. The large electronic display will display the athlete's performance, ranking and other information during the competition. The electronic display should display at least 10 lines of 32 characters per line, each letter being able to display letters and numbers.
6. In the Olympic Games and World Championships, the end point video system will record the athlete's performance as part of the automatic timing system. In other events, semi-automatic timing devices need to be supplemented. The semi-automatic timing device requires three referees to independently operate the buttons connected to the timer in each lane. When the athlete reaches the end, the referee presses the button to record the athlete's performance.
Recall line
It was pointed out that the guilty recall loop should be suspended above the water surface at a height of 1.2 meters and 15.0 meters from each end of the pool wall. The departure foul recall line should be connected by a quick disconnect device. The foul recall line must be able to effectively cover all lanes when it starts.
Branch line
The length of the lanes shall be the same as the length of the track, and shall be fixed on the hooks on the walls of the recessed ends. The position of the hook should ensure that the buoys at both ends of the lane can float on the water. Divider buoy diameter of 0.05 to 0.15 meters.
Starting table
It should be located at the center of each swimming lane at both ends of the swimming pool. Its front edge is 50-75 cm above the water surface. The surface area is 50 x 50 cm and covered with non-slip material, the inclination is not more than 10 degrees. Starting blocks should ensure that athletes using forward-leaning starting positions can grab platforms on the front or on both sides. If the thickness of the starting platform is greater than 0.04 meters, it is recommended to have two handshaking grooves on both sides not less than 0.1 meters wide, with the front end not less than 0.4 meters wide and 0.03 meters deep into the bench.
The forward declining handle should be mounted on both sides of the starting platform. The backhand handle should be installed 0.3 to 0.6m above the water surface. It can be installed parallel to the water surface or installed perpendicular to the water surface. The pool wall is not parallel to the surface of the pool wall.
