A New Type of Barrier Technology--Radio Microwave Plasma Process

Husky (Husky), a manufacturer of injection molding equipment, announced that a new type of barrier coating technology has been successfully developed in the United States. This silicon oxide coating process was developed by Fremont Nano Coatings of California and belongs to the plasma technology, but it differs from other plasma processes in that it generates radio waves instead of microwaves. The process is said to reduce the production cost of 1,000 bottles to less than $6 and simplify the internal coating process.

This process is mainly used to process PET bottles, such as cooperation with Husky, the main supplier of preform injection molding equipment. However, Fremont Nano Coatings said that the process has a certain effect in improving the barrier properties of PP bottles, and it can also be used for injection of pharmaceutical products.
