Abstract: In the 2013 Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision and Management Project Plan issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, thorium was identified as one of the key radioactive elements to be monitored across various provinces, cities, and counties. As part of the radiation environmental monitoring efforts, both local monitoring stations and environmental protection agencies are required to analyze the strontium content in state-controlled water samples. This study presents a UV-Visible spectrophotometric method for the accurate determination of radioactive elements in water, offering a reliable and cost-effective analytical approach. The method is particularly suitable for routine monitoring in environmental laboratories, ensuring compliance with national safety standards. By employing this technique, environmental scientists can efficiently assess the presence of radionuclides in water sources, contributing to the overall protection of public health and the environment. The results obtained through this method provide valuable data for regulatory agencies and help in the continuous evaluation of radiation risks.
