Adhesive label material characteristics

Symposium on the characteristics of self-adhesive labels --- Self-adhesive labels have been widely adopted by all walks of life in the society because of their ease of use. From the market of self-adhesive labels in China in recent years, the consumption of self-adhesive labels has grown rapidly and has great market potential. With the continuous expansion of the application field, the requirements for the performance of the self-adhesive label have also evolved toward the direction of complexity, diversity, and refinement.

The structure of sticker material

Self-adhesive label material consists of three elements: surface substrate, adhesive, release paper, or release film. Depending on the purpose of use and use, different combinations of labels can be produced to meet a variety of performance requirements.

1. Adhesives. According to whether the label is permanently affixed to the product or affixed, it must be peeled off, or peeled off and then affixed. The adhesive can be divided into permanent adhesive (strongly adhesive), re-exposed (weakly adhesive) and heavy adhesive. Species.
2. Anti-stick paper, anti-mud tape. Anti-sticking paper, anti-sticking properties of the release film, surface smoothness, warpage resistance, dimensional stability, and die-cutting processing properties are important. For example, Lintec Co., Ltd. of Japan can also produce self-adhesive release papers that facilitate the recycling of waste paper without polyethylene coating.

3. Surface substrate. In order to increase the added value of goods, when selecting the label material, the most important thing is to correctly select the surface material of the label. Not only must satisfy the color, texture and pattern requirements, but also meet the heat resistance, weather resistance, water resistance and other conditions. In addition, we must adapt to the requirements of diversified printing and printing methods.

Surface substrate, anti-fouling properties

1. Paper substrate types and characteristics

Offset paper: Non-coated paper with good printing and processing properties, mainly 64g/m2, and also 81.4g/m2, 104.7g/m2 color offset paper.

Coated paper, coated paper: Coated paper surface coating, suitable for advanced printing.
Glass surface paper jam: Compared with coated paper and coated paper, it improves the smoothness and gloss of the paper, making it more upscale.

Aluminium Foil: A thin aluminum foil with high gold and silver (glossy, matt) and so on.

Recycled paper: waste paper is mixed into the raw materials, but it does not affect the printability and is an environmentally friendly product. Some companies (such as Japan's Lintec Co., Ltd.) use 100% recycled paper on their self-adhesive surface substrates, and the product is certified by the ECO-MARK (Green Mark).

Impregnated paper: impregnated with paper in the paper to increase paper strength and water resistance.

Special paper: such as water-resistant paper, fluorescent paper and colored paper, with different colors, textures and properties, suitable for various uses.

Variable information printing paper: Different types of paper suitable for various printing methods such as inkjet, electrophotography, thermal and thermal transfer.

2. Types and Characteristics of Film Surface Substrates

Polyester film: including transparent, white, matt, foamed, aluminized and wire-drawing processing films with high heat resistance and transparency. Film manufacturers have different names for films. PET stands for polyester film. The film thickness is 12-250μm. The surface of the film coated with aluminum on PET is denoted by FN, if it is silver it is denoted by FNS light; the matt gold is denoted by FNG matt. In addition, wire drawing will be expressed as HL before aluminum plating

Polypropylene film: It is generally represented by PP. It has several kinds of white, transparent, semi-transparent, aluminum-plated, etc. Its transparency and water resistance are good, and its surface adaptability is excellent.

Polystyrene film: generally represented by PS, white and transparent, film thickness of 25-120μm, and more for the same material with the sticker (recyclable) label.

Synthetic: It is based on plastics, with whiteness, opacity, printability and plastic properties.

Polyvinyl chloride film: Generally expressed as PVC, this material is soft and has good water resistance, and is most suitable for signage. In addition to the general polyvinyl chloride film, there are super weathering polychlorinated films and brittle polychlorinated films.
Polyimide film: Oil-resistant, low-temperature and stable performance, mainly used for heat-resistant barcode labels.
Variable information printing film: suitable for inkjet, electronic photography, thermal transfer and other printing methods.
In addition to paper and film substrates, there are surface substrates such as satin, nonwoven fabrics, and aluminum monomers.
