The new ink looks ordinary. The reporter unscrewed a can and smelled it without any odor. Professor Wei Xianfu, head of the ink R&D team and director of the School of Printing and Packaging Engineering at Beijing Institute of Printing, told reporters that the magic of the new ink is here, and it does not contain any volatile organic solvents.

Wei Xianfu said that gravure printing is mainly used for plastic packaging printing, such as packaging printing of foods, medicines, and other products. In the traditional gravure printing ink, containing a large amount of volatile organic solvents, accounting for almost 50% of gravure printing components, causing atmospheric pollution during the printing process, flammable and explosive hidden dangers, and poor health of printing operators Impact, and will cause pollution to packaged goods, especially food and medicine packaging, children's toys and so on. "Although most of the organic matter in the printing process has volatilized, and in order to prevent the ink from contacting the food, a layer of composite film is added on the inside of the package. However, the volatile matter of the organic matter cannot be 100%. The remaining part still passes through the composite film and contaminates the food. There is a safety hazard.” This pure water-based gravure ink contains no volatile organic solvents, does not harm human health, and does not emit volatile substances to the atmosphere. It is a green ink.

In 2004, researchers from the Beijing Institute of Printing Technology conducted research on environmentally friendly, pure water-based gravure inks. In 2010, they completed a pilot test on inks. The ink does not contain heavy metals, organic solvents and other toxic substances. The performance of the products has reached the international advanced level, filling the gaps in the field of water-based plastic gravure printing inks and water-based tipping paper gravure printing inks, and can improve China's plastic packaging products. Security.

At present, the technology has been industrialized and the project has landed in the new material park of Fangshan Petrochemical. It is expected to reach a production capacity of 3,000 tons. After reaching its capacity in 2015, the annual production value will reach 150 million yuan.
