Columbia Sportswear Co. reported first-quarter revenue of $479 million for the period ending March 31, 2015, according to a release issued on May 6, 2015. The outdoor apparel and gear company, which owns brands like Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, Prana, Montrail, and Sorel, saw strong performance driven by the acquisition of Prana, robust sales in North America, and a gradual recovery in the European market.
The revenue growth of 13% compared to the same period in 2014 was partly fueled by the Prana acquisition, which closed in June 2014. Prana contributed approximately $37.1 million in revenue during the quarter. Net income also rose to $26.5 million, up from $22.3 million in the first quarter of 2014, reflecting improved profitability across the board.
The results highlight the positive impact of strategic acquisitions and continued demand for outdoor products, especially in key markets like the U.S. and Europe. With a solid start to the year, Columbia is well-positioned to maintain momentum as it moves into the second quarter.
