Sony VPL-HW20 first test (2) objective test

In the objective test, the ZOL evaluation center adopts the ANSI standard developed by the American National Standards Institute. This standard is also recognized as an authoritative standard in the industry. Through the professional equipment of the evaluation center, the projector's brightness, contrast, uniformity, color range, Uniformity and many other indicators. If you can't understand the following objective test content, please refer to "Detailed Explanation of the Objective Test of the Projector (Video)", this article will give you a detailed explanation of the objective test of the projector.

Test schematic

The measured maximum brightness of the Sony HW20 is 819 lumens, which is somewhat different from its nominal maximum brightness of 1300 lumens; the measured ANSI brightness is 710 lumens. According to our understanding, in general, the projection lens does not change, and the light bulb does not change, the brightness difference will not be very large. Compared with the measured data, compared with its predecessor HW15, the brightness value is basically the same. The measured maximum brightness of HW15 is 803 lumens, and the measured ANSI brightness of HW15 is 800 lumens. Ignoring the individual differences between products, it can be determined that the brightness of HW20 and HW15 has not improved.

In fact, the measured ANSI contrast is 215: 1. Subject to the limited range of the instrument, we are temporarily unable to actually measure its maximum contrast, and its minimum brightness value is already less than 0.0001. After we close the dynamic iris, when the screen is black, the HW20 still reaches the state of almost turning off the light, and the ZOL test value shows 0. At this stage, civilian-level measuring illuminance instruments have a measurement range of 0.0001 to 9999; it is estimated that only large laboratories at the national level have a larger minimum range, and large-scale instruments can test this ultra-small brightness value.

ACF lens

To project a 100-inch screen, the HW20 needs a distance of about 2.45 meters, which is mainly due to this ACF lens. HW20 is just a representative of Sony projectors. Unlike most cinema machines, the lenses of all Sony projection products have a short-range function in a small proportion.

Internal structure of similar products Huge heat sink + low speed fan

In terms of power-on and power-off time, the Sony HW20 takes 61 seconds to start up and shut down in about 2 minutes. Sufficient heat dissipation can ensure the extension of product life. In terms of noise control, the measured working noise of the HW20 is quite small. Its large body and excellent heat dissipation design give users a quieter theater experience.
