Tableting method of potassium bromide

KBr tabletting technology is the most commonly used method for processing solid samples for infrared analysis. First the sample was milled into fine particles, and then evenly mixed with the dried KBr powder. Finally, the sample was placed in a KBr tableting die, and a 13mm die of a hydraulic tableting machine was used to obtain a KBr tableting. You can also use other cheaper and faster methods to obtain the tablet.

The solid particles can be ground into a fine powder that has been compressed and washed with alcohol before grinding.

The ratio of measured object to KBr is 1 ~ 2: 100. If the absorption peak exceeds the interface, add more KBr. If the absorption peak is not obvious, you can add some analytes.

Infrared oven

Put the ground solid particles into the drying oven and bake them for about 30 minutes (depending on the drying condition of the object), to evaporate the water inside. Pay attention to high temperature when removing.

KBr mold can produce high-quality high-transparency tablet with a diameter of 13mm. The tablet is formed between the highly polished punches in the vacuum chamber. This mold has precise construction, stable tablet quality and long service life, and can serve your laboratory for a long time.

Before using the mold, wipe off the residue of the punch and the mold with alcohol, and put the powder after drying. After taking out the KBr film, clean the mold with alcohol.

Put the KBr mold into the tablet press working table, and the tablet press pressure can be taken out between 8-10 tons for about 2 minutes.

A KBr tablet holder is required. However, the tablet support can be fixed on the infrared detection instrument.

Place the pressed KBr wafer on the holder. Then put it on the infrared detector to detect.
