How to Package Flower Pots – The Packaging Doctor

By Carl Board • Friday December 16, 2016

Using protective packaging is crucial when sending delicate items, but it’s equally important to fill any empty spaces to prevent products from shifting and getting damaged. This week, our Packaging Doctor is helping a customer address an issue she’s been facing...

Dear Doctor,

I currently use bubble wrap to protect the plant pots I sell before putting them into boxes for shipping. However, the pots tend to move around inside the boxes, increasing the risk of damage.

I’m curious about trying alternatives like Jiffy Foam Roll or other cushioning materials instead of my current method. Do you have any recommendations?

I’m eager to hear from you soon,

Karen

Hi Karen,

At Kite, we offer a variety of protective materials designed to cushion products and fill empty space effectively. These solutions work well for all kinds of items, including fragile ones!

While Jiffy foam roll is excellent for protecting delicate items like glassware or polished surfaces due to its non-abrasive nature and lack of residue, it might not be the best option for filling voids in your boxes. Made from "closed-cell" polyethylene, it’s strong yet lightweight, helping reduce shipping costs.

Instead, we recommend considering our Mini Air air cushion packing system. It’s easy to set up and use, compact, and allows you to create air cushions on demand. You can wrap your plant pots with these cushions and use them to fill gaps inside the boxes. The machine produces eight different types of cushions, making it a cost-effective investment for your business. Each cushion type offers protection during transit and handling.

Our packaging experts have sent you more details about the Mini Air and the various cushions it generates so you can evaluate whether it’s right for your needs. We’re confident you’ll recognize its benefits and hope to supply you with a Mini Air system soon!

Best regards,
The Packaging Doctor
