Well-known British artist Mat Collishaw recently exhibited his latest 3D printed diorama work, The Centrifugal Soul, in Blain, South London. The artwork consists of dozens of 3D printed flowers and dozens of 3D printed birds, all of which are slightly different in form. It is worth mentioning that although Collishaw made his first 3D printed diorama as early as 2015, the artist still has doubts about modern technologies such as 3D printing. However, he still admits that these new technologies do bring many benefits to artistic creation. For example, for this new diorama, he said that only 3D printing can achieve its centimeter-level accuracy.
Collishaw also said that the purpose of creating this diorama is to let people think about what role new technologies play in their lives. And then, he will continue to try to use other technologies, such as the use of virtual reality (VR) to reproduce the world's first photography exhibition (held by William Fox Talbot in 1839). This new work is expected to be officially unveiled at the Somerset Palace in London on May 18, 2017.
