It is understood that BASF has decided to increase the price of paper coating binders and additives in the United States and Canada and increase the price of styrene-butadiene latex since July 1.
North America, based in Mount Olive, New Jersey, announced that it will increase the price of Styround carboxylated styrene butadiene latex, Basonal polyol monomer, and Acronal styrene-acrylate emulsion polymer paper coating adhesive by $110 ( 89 euros/ton. It will also increase the price of cold-polymerized high-solid styrene butadiene latex by US$88/tonne, which is sold in the latex foam, adhesive, textile and asphalt modification markets. The styrene-butadiene latex used in carpets, construction, adhesives and fiber bonding markets is also priced at US$66/t. In addition, BASF will also increase the price of its Sterocoll flow modifier and Curesen solvent by US$55/tonne.
BASF said that the increase in the prices of these products is the result of rising raw materials, energy and transportation costs.
