On July 27, 2015, the China Chamber of Commerce for Watches and Eyewear, in collaboration with the China Watch and Eyewear Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and Taobao (China) Software Co., Ltd., held a press conference in Beijing to promote strategies for network integrity management and foster cooperation. Representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, the China Consumer Association, the China Chamber of Commerce, Taobao, the Quality Inspection Center, and various commercial enterprises attended the event.
The meeting aimed to strengthen trust in online transactions and improve consumer confidence in e-commerce. Taobao, Asia's largest online trading platform, emphasized its commitment to building a trustworthy online environment. This partnership will focus on enhancing the second-hand watch auction sector by establishing quality standards and improving the management system for auctions on Taobao.
The Quality Inspection Center shared insights into the current state of the watch industry and analyzed the challenges in the second-hand market. It highlighted the importance of setting clear inspection norms and technical requirements for second-hand watches. The center emphasized that the second-hand watch industry is an inevitable part of modern society and called for collective efforts from all sectors to build a sustainable and transparent market.
The China Consumer Association pointed out that e-commerce has faced issues such as counterfeit goods, fraud, and unfair terms, which have harmed consumer trust and national interests. They stressed that maintaining integrity is crucial for social harmony and economic growth. The collaboration between the two parties is expected to drive positive change in the industry and create a more trustworthy online marketplace.
The Ministry of Commerce praised the initiative, stating that it aligns with the goals of the 12th Five-Year Plan for e-commerce development. The partnership is seen as a step toward fostering a more honest, self-regulated, and creditworthy e-commerce environment.
During the event, both parties signed the "Network Integrity Management Proposal," urging all online platforms, second-hand businesses, and individuals to follow laws and regulations strictly. They pledged to combat fake products, ensure transparency, and continuously improve the network integrity system. This joint effort aims to create a fairer and more reliable digital marketplace for consumers and businesses alike.
