Snow Nova - Tibetan Mountain School

[8264.com Editor's Note] The Tibet Mountaineering School actually opened a new chapter in the history of Tibetan mountaineering -- from climbing Everest to 14 mountain peaks over 8,000 meters in altitude to developing mountain services. Tibetan mountaineering is playing its own part. The advantages of mountain peak resources and mountaineering talents take a sustainable development road and open up a new world. This school is also becoming a rising star on the snowy plateau.

Ever since the SARS raged in 2003 when the Chinese mountaineering team successfully climbed Mount Everest, the name of a Tibetan school in Tibet can be described as an indisputable fact.

Because in that mountaineering activity, not only the headmaster of the Tibet Mountain School Nima Tsering and his five trainees also reached the summit, and 22 people from the school participated in the mountain collaboration.

In fact, Tibet’s mountaineering school is not only in Tibet, in China, but also in the world. It is also a “new thing”. Because although European and American countries such as France now have more mature mountaineering schools, the mountaineering schools there are set up for mountaineers or mountaineering enthusiasts, who teach mountaineering skills, and Tibet’s mountaineering schools aim at mountaineering service personnel— - Alpine guides, alpine collaborations and various mountain services.

Looking at the teaching subjects offered by the Tibet Mountain School, you can have a general understanding of mountain services—

Language lessons, learning Chinese, English, Tibetan; mountaineering theory and mountaineering skill courses, including mountaineering route selection, camp selection, climbing techniques, snow walking techniques, glacial walking techniques, road construction techniques and rock climbing techniques; outdoor sports Lessons, including maps, weather judgments; rescue classes, including self-help and rescue; Tibetan cultural and historical classes, including Tibetan culture, history, customs, tourist attractions; and cooking classes, including Chinese cuisine staple foods and Western food cakes and even steak, spaghetti Of course, there are physical training classes. The teaching goal of the school is that the graduates can be qualified as liaison officers in mountain adventure activities, mountain guides, mountains cooperation in charge of mountain material transportation, camp construction, road construction, etc., camp management, and cooks and other work.

The idea of establishing this school was first created by the current president, Nima Ciren. Before 1999, Nima had long served as a liaison officer for the mountaineering team of the Tibetan climbers. He saw that the team had hired a large number of Sherpas from Nepal to serve as mountaineering guides or collaborators in the mountains. He felt that this resource should not be drained. At the same time, it is also necessary to cultivate reserve forces for the Tibetan mountaineering team. Nima’s idea was immediately supported by the Sports Bureau of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and this new thing was quickly supported by Ozark Outdoor Products Company. Subsequently, the Mountaineering School received the attention and support of the State Sports General Administration and the China Mountaineering Association. By 2002, the Tibetan Mountain School was included in one of the country's 117 key Tibetan-funded projects. The state allocated 5 million, and the State General Administration of Sport allocated 2 million. With the self-financing part of the funds, the school has built a new school site in the place adjacent to the Tibet Mountaineering Team. With the teaching building, dormitory building, and reception building, it also established the largest artificial rock wall in China, 18 meters in height and 15 meters in height, and has an ice climbing simulation track. Boulder climbing site. In 2004, an international climbing competition was held on this rock wall. Players from 8 countries and regions demonstrated their skills on this 3500-meter-high ground.

In the past five years since the establishment of the school, three groups of students have been recruited, and the third group has begun to recruit girls. The trainees grew rapidly under the guidance of the teachers of Tibet University and the older generation of mountaineers, including Ren Qing Pingcuo, who was currently employed as the vice president. Some outstanding students also went to the French climbing school for further studies. The students who have graduated from school and graduated have already undertaken the mountain service to the mountaineering team in Tibet. So far, 17 students have boarded Everest. Among them, Awang Rob has summited Everest three times.

What is even more gratifying is that the Tibet Mountain School has begun to create its own fame in the world. From the initial introduction by the Tibet Mountaineering Association, it went out to find “customers” and developed overseas mountaineering teams and alpine travel companies to demand mountain services. According to the principal Nima's objective analysis, there is also a high cost factor for hiring Sherpas from Nepal, but more importantly, our mountain service team is professionally trained and trustworthy.

For the future, Nyima has many ideas. He believes that it is also necessary to strengthen the cultivation of the “service awareness” of the students. The Sherpa people have been engaged in mountain service for several generations. They have been favored in the past because of the high quality of service, high mountain activity and experience. If we want to exploit the market in the field of mountain services, we must catch up in several areas. There are countless peaks in Tibet that are more than 6,000 meters above sea level and 7,000 meters above sea level. They have become a choice for mountaineering enthusiasts and lovers of vertical walks. In the future, there will be more foreign mountaineering and vertical walks to Tibet. The more domestic teams came to Tibet, the more than 800 to 1,000 people who serve in the mountains are definitely not enough.

The Tibet Mountain School actually opened a new chapter in the history of Tibetan mountaineering -- from climbing Mount Everest to 14 mountain peaks over 8,000 meters in altitude to developing mountain services. Tibet's mountaineering is playing its mountain resources and climbing talents. Advantages, take a sustainable development road and open up a new world.
