Royal Special Forces Training Manual (Chapter 7 5)

Mountain Link

Mountain links include mountain combat professionals. During the selection stage,

The new team has conducted a certain degree of training. Although Brikanbeken is in a harsh environment, it cannot be compared with other high mountains and mountains in the world.

Mountain areas are a challenge for special air mission teams. Mountains bring extreme temperatures, strong winds, low visibility and danger, and poor terrain is rare in the world. Therefore, it takes many hours for the mountain to train for survival in the mountains.

All special air mission teams are exploring the skills of other elite troops in the world. In this regard, the Mountain Link is no exception. In particular, the following four units had been vigorous: the German Army, the Royal Marines, the Italian Alpine Forces, and the United States Marine Corps.

The mountains together with the Royal Marines maintain a special close relationship. The Royal Marine Corps has assumed numerous obligations for the development of the Norwegian Army, thus creating a world-class theory of mountain operations and polar warfare. Two projects led by the Royal Marines attracted new members of the Mountain Link. The first is the Arctic combat training in Norway. This is a three-week comprehensive training for polar survival. The special Air Corps soldiers feel that there are many places to endure. Training consists of a group of 4 or a group of 10 who spend a few days in the polar snow caves, climb glaciers, perform an avalanche rescue, and cross-country ski. The latter item also includes the horrible “ice measurement”. The soldiers must slide through the ice hole to enter the water, then lay down all the equipment and climb out with the skis. In addition to survival training, the course also teaches new members to master winter combat skills, and uses the following methods to broaden the vision of special aircrews, such as winter camouflage, snow patrols, and teach them how to effectively carry out snow ambushes. This is a comprehensive introduction to the art of polar warfare. However, the Royal Marine Corps mountain and polar instructors have developed a more scientific plan. In fact, it is an eight-month course - a relatively long period of time for special airline soldiers and his new unit. Even in accordance with special airline mission standards, such courses are difficult to cope with. Most of the soldiers who participated in the training came from the Royal Marine Corps or special air traffic groups. However, the elimination rate was as high as 60%. This type of training is completely reinforced by polar warfare training. However, as a whole, it can be said that it is a comprehensive training course for mountain and land warfare. Mountain courses also include high-intensity climbing training and harsh combat skills training. Special emphasis is placed on skiing. Soldiers must pass the military ski instructor's assessment.

In addition to the training of the Royal Marines, there are German Army courses. The German Army Mountain and Winter Warfare School is located in the Bavarian Mountains near Mittewald. The 5-week course takes place in the Bavarian Alps and the French Alps. Both cities have arranged high-strength survival training and climbing training. The survival skills will soon be mastered by the soldiers. In cold weather, the soldiers were left camping on the mountainside. They quickly learned to judge the symptoms of alpine disease and then make adjustments to this potentially lethal environment.

Climbing training is physically demanding. It includes many different surfaces, from exposed rocks to glaciers and even frozen waterfalls. The purpose of this training is mainly to enhance the soldier's self-confidence in order to solve the problem of climbing. This kind of high-intensity training is designed according to the special requirements of soldiers in wartime. As an aid, folk climbers cannot enjoy it. Next, six weeks of skiing training is required. Before the end of the course, the soldiers must participate in the German Ski Association to guide the testing and evaluation, no matter how high their starting point is.

The courses of the Royal Marine Corps and the German Army are the two most promising courses that the new members of the mountain have learned. Other courses were provided by the Italian Mountain Troops and the US Marine Corps Mountain Combat Training School. Both forms of courses are good basic courses for mountain warfare and mountain life. The Italian mountain course has advantages in terms of personnel sources (because its members are born, raised and working in the mountains), so it is more able than other units Accurately understand the mountain environment. The US Marine Corps tutorial is also very useful, especially its high altitude training and cross-border ski training.

No matter what kind of mountain combat environment or polar battle environment, Mountain Link will provide special air services. To become a member of a mountain company, concentrated training is a long-term participation. The skills learned by the soldiers are not only good for combat, but also for entertainment.
