Food cans that can be heated with a needle

A British company has developed a can of food that can be heated with a needle, Hotcan, which is particularly suitable for tourists and field workers.

The food cans were made by putting a can containing 425 milliliters of food into a can of 794 milliliters to form a double food can. Place the processed food in a small jar and seal it, then put it in a big jar. Lime powder is added under the two tank gaps. Above the powder is water in a plastic bag. The tank is covered with foamed polyethylene for heat insulation. The whole can is covered with a plastic cover. When eating, remove the plastic cover first, and then use a needle to pierce a certain part of the outer can, so that the water in the plastic bag is injected into the lime. The chemical reaction between the two produces heat, which can increase the food temperature in the small can to 50. °C. For even heating, shake cans gently. After 10 to 12 minutes, heating stops. Because of the insulation material outside the tank, the temperature in the inner tank can be maintained for about 1 hour.
