Wood coarse structure and three sections

First, the coarse structure of wood

Good material wood macroscopic (macroscopic, macroscopic) characteristics refer to the characteristics seen under the naked eye and under a 10x magnifying glass.

(1) Structural features:

Good materials include heartwood and sapwood; growth wheel and annual ring; early and late wood; tube hole and catheter; axial thin-walled tissue; wood ray; wave mark; intercellular tract; connotation phloem; oil cell or mucous cell; ; plaque.

(2) Physical characteristics:

Good materials include wood color; texture; structure and pattern; smell and taste; light and heavy and soft and hard.

Second, the three sections of wood

Good materials must be observed from three cut surfaces because of the different types, numbers, and arrangements of the anatomical molecules that make up the wood.

(a) cross section

Good material 1. The cut surface perpendicular to the main axis of the trunk (or wood texture).

Good material 2. It is especially important to identify wood under the naked eye or under a magnifying glass.

2) Longitudinal section

Chord cut 1. Chord cut surface, tangent to wood grain or growth wheel tangent to wood ray.

Chord cut 2. Diameter cut, parallel to the wood texture, parallel to the wood ray; in fact, the cut surface is a special cut surface of the chord through the medulla.
