Modify Remote Desktop Port to Make Win Vista Safer

Windows Vista supports remote desktop and terminal service connections that allow remote users to control the local computer. Remote control of the terminal service is a non-killable Trojan for antivirus software.

In the Windows Vista Start menu, type regedit to open the registry editor, navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminal ServerWdsrdpwdTdstcp branch, and on the right you can find a key named PortNumber of REG_DWORD. We double-click to modify it to a non-3389 port:

Note: Since ports 1 to 1024 have been fully allocated, it is recommended to modify any ports up to port 65535 above 1024 to prevent conflicts, such as 2007, 2038, and so on.
