[Chinese Packaging Network News] Recently, Allnex introduced a new low migration resin called EBECRYL 85, an amine-modified polyether acrylate, specifically designed for UV-curing food packaging inks and coatings. This marks the latest addition to Allnex's range of resins suitable for indirect food contact applications, offering a safer and more reliable option for the packaging industry.

The use of UV-curable inks and coatings in the food packaging sector has been restricted in part due to concerns about odors caused by the migration of resin components. Additionally, as LED UV curing technology becomes more widespread, it's essential that the resins used in these formulations fully cure under LED conditions, ensuring consistent hardness and durability.

To address these challenges, Allnex has developed a line of low migration (LM) resins tailored for indirect food contact applications in printing inks and coatings. These UV and electron beam (EB) curable resins are manufactured using carefully selected raw materials and incorporate special measures to prevent cross-contamination. They also meet strict quality standards, including ISO 9001, ensuring reliability and safety for end-users.

EBECRYL 85 is the newest member of Allnex’s low migration resin portfolio. In addition to complying with TSCA and REACH regulations, this amine-modified polyether acrylate also meets Nestlé’s B-listing requirements and Swiss regulatory standards, making it a versatile choice for global markets.

As a bifunctional, highly reactive resin, EBECRYL 85 delivers excellent hardness and resistance to solvents and blocking. It is ideal for use in UV or LED UV curing processes across various printing technologies, including OPV, flexographic, inkjet, and screen printing inks. This makes it a valuable solution for manufacturers looking to enhance performance while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations.
