At the time of the event, what are their experiences, thoughts and opinions as a college student climbing enthusiast?
“Mountain training is full of monotony and hard workâ€
When it comes to mountaineering, reporter Wen Shiqiang, former leader of the mountaineering team at Tsinghua University, who was in front of the reporter, actually spoke for two hours. From the seven years ago, Wen Shiqiang had just entered the university gate to register for the Tsinghua Mountaineering Team.

Wen Shiqiang said that the registration of the climbing team is not a unique phenomenon in the past one or two years. However, after half a year of enrollment, the vast majority of students will withdraw from the selection process for newcomers for various reasons.
“Physical ability is the first level. After joining the new team of the mountaineering team, they start physical training three times a week for 4,000 meters to 6,000 meters. "No hero, only successful team"

Since college students must have written consent from their parents for climbing activities, any parents must give up the climbing plan once the parents object. Wen Shiqiang said: “Each year, there will be a small number of players who cannot pass the parental barrier. Due to the Beishan Mountain accident, in the past two years, Tsinghua University has become increasingly resistant to student climbing. In most cases, it is difficult for parents. After changing my mind, I was quite good. After a year of persuasion, my parents agreed.†Wen Shiqiang said he had objectively introduced the climbing situation to his parents in order to minimize parents’ concerns about safety, and the most important thing was to show that. Wen Shiqiang recalled the experience of the first mountaineering in 1999: “The plan was to climb the main peak of Nyainqentanglha. Although I was participating in the activity for the first time, I was also duty-bound to undertake certain tasks for the team. “A lot of people asked me about the feeling of going to the top. There was actually nothing. At that time, the first thing I thought about was that for a few of our team members to finally reach the summit, many of the team members would be willing to spend more on exploring the road and transporting it to their families. "Some commercial sponsorships are actually traps."
"1999 was my first mountaineering, and that was also the most educational experience of the Tsinghua Mountaineering team."
From 1994 to 1998, the Tsinghua Mountaineering Team successfully achieved the peak of the scheduled mountain peak for the fifth consecutive year. However, in the main peak of Nyainqentanglha Mountain in 1999, Tsinghua players encountered trouble. “Because the preliminary materials were not sufficiently prepared, the old players in the team lacked the deterrent power they deserved, and they were too dependent on the guide during the climbing process. This led to unprecedented difficulties in climbing the main peak of Nyainqentanglha Mountain that year. The line, because of the dramatic changes in reality, has been impossible to implement, and the temporarily assigned one was rejected because it was too difficult. At that time, the team stayed at the base camp and watched a good weather but could not act. The morale of the entire team The rapid decline eventually caused some team members to complain and dissatisfaction. At this time, due to the fact that there were not many old players in the team and did not fully think of the preparatory plan, the mountaineering operation ended in failure.
"Through this lesson, the Tsinghua team knew that the team must guarantee a certain number and quality of the old players. Since 2000, the Chinese boarding association has also made it mandatory for the senior team members to account for more than 1/3 of the college team. We actually figured out this experience in advance."
Before the 2002 Great Northern Conference, the climbing team of colleges and universities had already seen a rising goal of climbing. This aspect was related to the expansion of self-confidence, and another important reason came from commercial sponsorship.
“As a student society organization, the sources of funding for the Tsinghua Mountaineering team are entirely self-financing. In the early stages of building the team, pulling sponsorship was very important but also very difficult to do. Some companies or companies are willing to sponsor, but they are required to At a certain height, they take a picture for them, which is actually a cover for the team. Whether the objective conditions permit or not, the team must attack the height. Perhaps it is uphold the strict school spirit, Tsinghua Mountaineering team from the beginning I refused to accept such sponsorship, but in the initial stage, it took a lot of effort for the team to pull sponsorship. Later we found that the method of alumni sponsorship is better. First, there is no demanding requirement for commercial sponsorship, and the second is the comparison of sponsorship sources. With stability, we are now able to achieve a basic budget of around 100,000 yuan each year. As a team player, we do not need to bear economic pressure."
Wen Shiqiang said that sponsorship is a common problem faced by colleges and universities. It is difficult to bear the high cost of climbing. However, not all college and mountaineering teams can receive consistent and stable support from Tsinghua University as alumni.
"Management is more conducive to safety than blocking."
“When I was young, I went to the real mountain!†This is when Wen Shiqiang first entered the Tsinghua Mountaineering Team. An old team member told him that the mountaineering originally belonged to young people. In Europe and the United States, college students’ climbing is also a very popular sport.
However, in China, college students still have some complexity in mountaineering.
Since the mountain accident of college students is an extremely serious incident in China, the most frightening thing for these mountaineers is that in the event of a mountain disaster, all college mountaineering teams were killed by a stick. “From an artificial point of view, college students have been involved in mountain climbing. The possibility has been limited to the minimum, from the selection of players to training, as well as the investigation of team members' will and moral character, as well as the equipment for climbing and the matching of new and old players. Now, the Association has stipulated that the college team must accept the association. With the guidance of the professional guides sent out, the danger of climbing for college students is actually very low. Although there was no point in suspending the training of colleges and universities, in China, after several mountain disasters, the university basically stopped approving the establishment of new mountaineering clubs. At present, only colleges and universities that have established students' mountaineering organizations are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Geological University, Beijing University of Technology, and Xiamen University.
