For outdoor enthusiasts who love running, marathons and endurance events are often seen as essential. But is it just the act of running that keeps you motivated? Beyond the physical challenge, what really draws you to cross-country events?
The **WINGS FOR LIFE WORLD RUN** is an extraordinary global event that has been taking place for 15 years now, and this year it will be held on May 3rd. What makes this race unique is that it starts simultaneously in 35 cities across the world. The race begins at 11:00 AM UTC (which is around 7:00 PM Beijing Time), and all participants start at the same time.
After 30 minutes, a group of "chase cars" — known as the "Shopmasters" — will enter the course and gradually increase their speed. In the first hour, they will run at 15 km/h, and then every subsequent hour, they will accelerate further. The race continues until all the chase cars have passed every runner. Once a participant is caught by one of these cars, their race is over. So how far can you go? It depends on how long you can keep up without being overtaken.
This year’s 35 locations were chosen based on the results from the previous 14-year World Championship. All registration fees from the event go toward non-profit organizations focused on spinal injury research and support.
