On November 2nd, Chengdu's non-legacy exhibition park became the center of attention as the world's longest sofa was officially unveiled. Stretching an impressive 53.35 meters, this remarkable piece of furniture was created by Yidi Home after nearly a year of dedicated effort. A team of five designers, eight technicians, and 50 workers came together to bring this vision to life over six days and nights. At the event, local residents had the chance to sit on the massive sofa and experience its comfort and unique design firsthand.
One participant shared their excitement, highlighting not only the astonishing length but also the comfortable seating and elegant color scheme. They described it as a perfect blend of visual appeal and tactile satisfaction, making the experience truly memorable.
To ensure the same level of comfort as regular sofas, Yidi Home designed a special frame using a new material that strengthens the structure, allowing it to support hundreds of people without any deformation. The seat and backrest were also tailored to suit Asian sitting habits, ensuring both functionality and style.
According to He Jinqiu, the designer and general manager of Yidi Home, the sofa was inspired by modern Milanese design elements, giving it a fashionable and contemporary look. The length of 53.35 meters symbolizes the traditional Chinese philosophy of "first and last," while the two seams and three pieces of fabric represent the idea of "good things coming one after another." He joked that while the sofa is easy to sit on, it might be hard to find a place to put it at home — a humorous note that hints at its potential for a Guinness World Record.
