On November 2nd, Chengdu's non-legacy exhibition park became the center of attention as the world’s longest sofa was officially unveiled. Stretching an impressive 53.35 meters, this remarkable piece was created by Yidi Home after nearly a year of meticulous planning and hard work. The project involved five designers, eight technicians who carefully reviewed data, and 50 workers who labored for six days and nights to bring the vision to life. At the event, local citizens gathered to sit on the sofa and experience its unique comfort and design.
One visitor shared that the sofa not only amazed with its length but also offered an exceptional sitting experience. The soft texture and elegant color scheme provided a perfect blend of visual appeal and physical comfort, making it a memorable moment for everyone who tried it.
To ensure the same level of comfort as regular sofas, Yidi Home designed a special frame using a new material that enhanced strength and durability. This allowed the sofa to support multiple people without any deformation. Additionally, the seat and backrest were tailored to suit Asian sitting habits, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
According to He Jinqiu, the lead designer and general manager of Yidi Home, the design was inspired by modern Italian sofa trends, giving the world’s longest sofa a stylish and contemporary look. The length of 53.35 meters symbolizes the traditional Chinese philosophy of "first and last," while the two seams and three pieces of fabric represent the idea of "good things coming one after another." He joked that while people may feel brave enough to sit on the sofa, they might hesitate to buy it due to the challenge of finding space for it at home. The company is now preparing to submit the record for the Guinness World Records.
