Lining Installation Method

Before installing the rubber blanket, it is crucial to clean the drum thoroughly and apply a thin layer of oil to prevent rusting. This step ensures that the drum remains in good condition and provides a stable base for the blanket.

If the woolen pad is to be reused, it should be manually rubbed before use to restore its elasticity. This helps maintain the performance and lifespan of the pad.

When using a new blanket, keep in mind that it has excellent elasticity and stretchability. After some time in use, it may undergo plastic deformation, causing the tensioned blanket to loosen due to elongation. Therefore, it should be gradually tightened. After replacing the new blanket, operate under normal embossing conditions for about half an hour. Once the plastic deformation stabilizes, tighten the blanket again before printing. Otherwise, excessive stress can cause damage or even breakage of the blanket.

When checking the installed blanket, if the liner is displaced, wrinkled, or there are debris present, the blanket should be removed for cleaning or adjustment. This ensures proper alignment and prevents any issues during the printing process.

When loading and unloading the blanket, it is recommended to have two people involved to ensure safety and avoid accidents. Always check that all tools used are in good condition after handling the blanket to prevent any potential hazards within the printing machine.

Precautions

Adjust the pressure between the blanket cylinder, plate cylinder, and impression cylinder appropriately. Use the minimum necessary pressure to meet printing requirements, which helps extend the service life of the blanket.

The tightness of the blanket should be properly adjusted. The degree of tightness significantly affects the elasticity and elongation of the blanket, especially for air-cushioned blankets. Too much tension can reduce the compressibility of the air-cushion layer.

A poor condition of the blanket can lead to printing failures. Long-term exposure to ink can cause solvent penetration into the rubber layer, leading to swelling. Swollen blankets may lose flatness, resulting in inconsistent prints. In such cases, the blanket should be replaced.

If corners, double sheets, wrinkles, or foreign matter on the paper get caught between the rollers, excessive plastic deformation may occur in the layout of the eraser, causing light or missing areas in the print.

If the blanket is not severely damaged, it can sometimes be fixed by adjusting the underlying paper. However, if the damage is severe, the blanket must be replaced to ensure quality output.

If foreign materials such as paper dust or dirt adhere to the blanket, they can transfer to the plate or impression cylinder, causing dirt on the printed product and reducing its quality.
