Knowing the brand of Losch for a long time, I recently paid more attention to them due to the launch of a running shoe in 2015. What caught my eye was the BOA lacing system combined with vibrant colors and flexible soles. After testing the shoes, I found them incredibly impressive. During the summer solstice, before an exhibition in Nanjing, I had the opportunity to review this pair of outdoor shoes. At that time, I was filming a video on five-toe shoes and testing different scenarios, which gave me a close look at these shoes.
Over the past few years, I’ve tried several pairs of sandals and outdoor shoes. From the early UPLAND (fully open and unprotected), Five-Ten (mesh), Wolf Claw (with toe protection), Chaco (fully open), to Luoyang Chi (with toe protection), each had its own characteristics. Summer is the season for water activities. If you're going hiking near water, having the right footwear can make the experience even more enjoyable. That’s when you need strong, durable, non-slip walking shoes and breathable, quick-drying sandals that fit perfectly.
**Brand Introduction**
Losch combines "Climb" and "Sports," emphasizing innovation and exploration. The brand believes in "eternally climbing peaks and self-challenge," encouraging people to get outdoors, enjoy nature, and experience the comfort of high-tech outdoor products. **Tester Introduction**
Otsuka started his outdoor journey in 2002, accumulating over 13 years of experience. He has traveled from the East Sea to Mount Everest, and from Wuzhi Mountain in the South to Ejina in the North. He has explored the 72 Gorges in Shanxi, washed clothes along the Yellow River, experienced the harsh winds of Taibai Mountain, and seen the beauty of Huashan Nanfeng from Sangong Mountain. Always on the move, he loves the feeling of being outdoors.
He enjoys researching equipment, has extensive knowledge and experience with gear like emergency kits, clothing, lights, river tools, hiking boots, cross-country shoes, and sports cameras. He writes detailed reviews and has published many reports on these items.
**Appearance Introduction**
Product Name: Outdoor Shoes
Model: SD-207B
Color: Army Green
Materials: Fabric + artificial leather upper, rubber and EVA sole
The overall design of the shoe is quite appealing. The main color is military green, with bright yellow accents extending from the sole pattern, adding a pop of color against the natural surroundings. The front of the sole is raised to form a toe cap, providing essential protection during mountain or water walks. The upper is made of PU and fabric, with a breathable Taiwanese sandwich mesh inside and an elastic band for a secure fit. All parts that touch the feet are made of soft, waterproof nanofabric. The lacing system is traditional but highly secure, preventing the laces from coming loose or getting caught in vegetation.
What stands out is the companion design—unlike other brands that use simple ribbons, Losch features four folded fluorescent ribbons that can be pressed down and used as slippers if needed. This clever feature adds practicality and style.
The toe cap has a groove that extends from the sole's drainage channel, creating a "pliers-shaped" design. This helps prevent water from entering the shoe by directing it away through the grooves instead of through the permeable holes. The drainage holes are designed in a "Z" shape, not straight, to prevent sharp objects from penetrating the sole. This thoughtful detail enhances safety and durability.
The sole material is hydrolysis-resistant, increasing the lifespan of the shoes while remaining soft and flexible.
**Outdoor Walking Test**
The test took place in Xigou, Yuntai Mountain, Xinxiang. The trail included slate steps and dirt roads. The rubber soles provided excellent grip with no slipping. The test focused on slippery steps and water paths. As we climbed the stone steps toward the glass observation deck, the traction remained solid.
On the return trip, I walked through a waterway, stepping on rocks and crossing rapids. The shoes provided full protection, and the water drained quickly. Even after turning over stones multiple times, the soles stayed firmly attached to the rocks, like octopus suckers.
**Summary**
The Losch SD-207B outdoor shoes offer excellent support, protection, and breathability. The soft, water-repellent lining, fluorescent companions, and Z-shaped drainage channels reflect the brand’s human-centered design philosophy. The octopus-like sole ensures stability, durability, and safety for all outdoor adventures.
**Disadvantages**
1. The water repellency of the inner lining could be improved. After leaving the waterway for 1.5 hours, the shoes were still damp.
2. The arch support could be enhanced to reduce fatigue and prevent foot collapse during long hikes.
