Knowing the brand of Losch for a long time, I recently became more interested in them after the release of their running shoe in 2015. What caught my attention was the combination of BOA's lacing system with vibrant colors and flexible soles. After testing the shoes, I was truly impressed. During the summer solstice, before an exhibition in Nanjing, I had the chance to review this pair of outdoor shoes. At that time, I was filming a video on five-toe shoes and testing different environments, which gave me a close look at these shoes.
Over the past few years, I’ve owned several pairs of sandals and hiking shoes, from the early UPLAND (fully open and unprotected), five-ten (mesh), wolf claw (with toe caps), CHACO (fully open), and Luoyang Chi (with toe caps). Summer is the season for water activities, and if you're playing in the water, it can add more fun to your hike. That’s when you need strong, durable, non-slip walking shoes and breathable, quick-drying sandals that perfectly meet your needs.
**Brand Introduction**

**Tester Introduction**
Otsuka started outdoor activities in 2002, gaining 13 years of experience. He has traveled from the Yellow Sea to Mount Everest, from Wuzhi Mountain to Ejina, explored the 72 Gorges in Shanxi, washed clothes by the Yellow River, experienced the winds of Taibai and blizzards, and witnessed the view of Huashan from Sangong Mountain. Always on the road, he enjoys the feeling of being outdoors.
He likes researching equipment, has a good understanding of gear, and writes detailed reports on items like life-saving boxes, emergency clothing, lamps, river tools, hiking boots, cross-country shoes, and sports cameras. His reviews have been published widely.
**Appearance Introduction**
Product Name: Outdoor Shoes
Model: SD-207B
Color: Army Green
Material: Fabric + artificial leather upper, fabric sole with rubber and EVA compound.
The overall design of the shoes is very satisfying. The main color is army green, with bright yellow accents along the sides of the shoe body, making the shoes stand out against the green vegetation. The rubber soles extend forward to form a toe cap, providing necessary protection during mountain or water hikes. The upper is made of PU and fabric, with a breathable Taiwanese sandwich mesh inside and an elastic band to secure the upper. The areas that touch the feet are all soft, water-repellent nanofabric. The lacing system is traditional but very sturdy, ensuring that the laces won’t come loose or get pulled apart by vegetation. I believe that in the outdoors, simpler designs often mean greater security.
What I really appreciate about this model is the companion design. Unlike previous brands that used simple ribbons, Losch’s design is spacious and uses four folded fluorescent ribbons that can be pressed down as slippers when needed.
In the front of the shoe, there’s a groove in the middle of the toe cap, forming a “plier-shaped†design that extends from the drainage groove on the sole. This design helps prevent water from entering the shoe. If the sole has closed drainage holes, stepping on water could cause pressure and force water into the shoe through the permeable hole. However, with an open design, the water spreads along the groove, reducing the chance of water getting inside.
Losch’s drainage holes are lined with stencils to prevent sharp objects from penetrating the soles. The drainage holes are designed in a “Z†shape, not straight up and down. Other brands still use straight drainage holes, even some well-known ones. This thoughtful design enhances safety and shows the brand’s attention to detail.
The water drains quickly from the shoes, and the PU material on the surface is hydrolysis-resistant, increasing the lifespan of the shoes while remaining soft and flexible.
**Outdoor Walking Test**
The test took place in Xigou, Yuntai Mountain, Xinxiang. The trail consists of slate steps and dirt paths. The rubber soles provided excellent grip, with no slipping. The test focused on slippery steps and waterways.
Walking up the stone steps toward the glass observation deck on the cliff path, the friction was good, and the shoes didn’t slip. Removing the shoes, the performance was impressive.
On the return journey, I walked through the waterway. The water flowed from the rocks, and without a trekking pole, I carefully chose the right path. The water was clear, and I tested the depth by stepping on the bottom. Crossing rocky escarpments, rapids, shallows, and deep pools, the shoes offered full protection.
When I stepped out of the water, the shoes drained quickly. Even after flipping over stones multiple times, the soles stayed firmly attached to the smooth rocks, like octopus suckers. The rubber material and specially designed patterns ensured a solid grip.
**Summary**
The Losch SD-207B outdoor shoes offer comprehensive support and protection, combining the features of waterproof and quick-drying sandals. The soft, water-repellent nano lining ensures comfort, while the fluorescent companion and Z-type drainage grooves reflect the brand’s human-centered design philosophy. The octopus-like sole patterns provide a solid, durable, and non-slip grip, ensuring the safety of every hiker.
**Disadvantages:**
1. The water repellency of the inner lining could be improved. After being out of the water for 1.5 hours, the shoes were still damp.
2. The arch support of the soles could be enhanced to better fit the foot, preventing arch collapse and reducing fatigue during long walks.
